Patrick C. Armbrust

Director

Patrick is founder, owner and director of Armbrust Real Estate Institute. He began his real estate career in 1974 as a salesperson for Southridge Realty Company, founded in 1960 by his mother Betty J. Armbrust and as an appraiser trainee with Armbrust Appraisal Service, Inc. founded by his father John W. Armbrust. Today Patrick is a Colorado Certified Residential Appraiser and Broker Associate. He is the owner of Armbrust Appraisal Service, Inc and was the first instructor in Colorado to earn the National Appraisal Qualifications Board Certified Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice Instructor designation. Today Pat spend most of his time teaching licensing and continuing education for real estate brokerage and appraisal.

Patrick has extensive experience in residential and commercial appraisal and brokerage. He is a former Senior Residential Appraiser (SRA) member of the Appraisal Institute, having served as a national faculty member and on various boards and committees on a local level. He has been teaching real estate and appraisal since 1985 and has written numerous real estate and appraisal courses including both licenseing and continuing education materials. Pat is a frequent speaker/trainer at real estate events such as the Realtor Rally and Colorado Real Estate Convention and he teaches throughout Colorado at the request of various professional organizations.

Pat has been helping individuals interested in a career in the real estate industry since 1985 and finds his greatest fulfillment when his students succeed. He continuously offers guidance and counseling to AREI alumni and is known to be a rich resource of information to new and veteran real estate professionals alike.

Betty J. Armbrust, DREI, GRI, CRS, C-CREC, ASR, ABR, SHS

Betty, a true pioneer in Colorado Real Estate, has been licensed since 1960. She holds the GRI, CRS, Distinguished Real Estate Instructor (DREI) and the Consumer-Certified Real Estate Consultant (C-CREC) designations. She is owner/broker of Metro Brokers-Southridge Realty Co. and has sold thousands of properties in the Denver metro area. Betty founded and owned the first state approved private real estate school in Colorado from 1962 to 1995.

Betty has served as president of the Denver Board of Realtors, the Colorado Real Estate Educators Association and the National Real Estate Educators Association. She has been honored by the Denver Board of Realtors as “Realtor of the Year” and in 2000, the Betty J. Armbrust Recognition Award. She was awarded the “National Real Estate Educator of the Year”, the “Colorado Real Estate Educator of the Year” and is a three-time recipient of the “Merrie Medina Teaching Award” granted by the Colorado Association of Realtors. Betty serves on the Colorado Real Estate Commission “Approved Forms” committee and served a six-year term on the “Unauthorized Practice of Law” committee, an appointment by the Colorado Supreme Court.

David Afman

David entered the real estate industry in 1989 with Metro Brokers, Afman & Company. David was originally educated at Real Estate Prep, the forerunner of the current Armbrust Real Estate Institute. David has been an AREI faculty member since 2002 and is also a faculty member of the Colorado Association of Realtors. David holds the GRI (Graduate Realtors Institute) designation, a nationally recognized designation of competency and excellence in real estate. David is a managing Broker at Cherry Creek Properties.

Louis Garone, MAI, Appraisal Faculty

Lou began his career in real estate appraisal in 1985. In 1989 he began his training as a commercial appraiser. Lou worked as a staff review appraiser for a large mortgage company dealing with underwriting issues, secondary market buy back cases, quality control and fraud investigations from 1997 through 1999.

Lou also managed the litigation department for a local corporate appraisal firm involved in all manner of litigation cases across the entire metropolitan area. Currently, Lou works with Aurora Loan Services/ Lehman Brothers Bank as an appraisal reviewer also working with the wholesale lending division reviewing residential appraisals from across the country.

Lou has acquired the SRA and MAI designations through the Appraisal Institute, carries the Certified General License in Colorado, has served as an equalization hearing officer in Adams County, and served two terms on the Colorado Board of Real Estate Appraisers. Lou’s appraisal career includes experience in all facets of residential properties, widely varied experience in commercial properties, eminent domain, litigation in many venues, extensive review from administrative as well as technical aspects, and teaching. Lou has authored and co-authored several real estate appraisal classes and seminars and he is an Appraisal Foundation certified USPAP instructor.
