Colorado Real Estate Licensing Programs

REAL ESTATE LICENSING

Unlike many states who have two-tier licensing, Salespeople and Brokers, all new applicants in Colorado are licensed as Brokers.

Colorado requires completion of six courses (168 Contact Hours) and successful passing of the state exam prior to issuance of a license. The state exam is comprised of two sections, the National section, and the Colorado section.

The six courses required for licensing are:

  1. Law & Practice (National Exam)
  2. Colorado Contracts & Regulations (Colorado Exam)
  3. Real Estate Closings (Colorado Exam)
  4. Trust Accounts and Record Keeping (Colorado Exam)
  5. Practical Applications (non-testable)
  6. Current Legal Issues (non-testable)

The National Exam covers Common Law real estate terms and concepts.
The Colorado Exam covers Colorado specific statutes and rules, approved real estate forms, real estate closings and trust accounts.
